The green house

Cooking

Of course when on the farm, one of the great things to do is to participate in the food making and learn a few local dishes. The farm is equipped with 2 kitchens. If you want to relax, Krhishna's wife will make you food. If you want to make your own, you can use the common kitchen.
Fo night meals, you will enjoy a nice fire meal.

Here is Ram making a lapsi jam. The lapsi grows on the farm and is a delicious caramel like taste. The nepalese make a sweet paste with it, a natural candy for healthy kids. You can find the paste in shops, sweet, sour or pickled. A great treat.

Didgeridoo

One of the activities on the farm is to make didgeridoos. Cut your own bamboo, file, tune and you're ready to learn how to play didg. Didgeridoo is this Australian instument, originally carved by termites, played by arborigenes. Bamboo makes a great instrument, light and with a good sound.

Music is a big part of healing. So, when you come to the farm, bring your instruments, your voice, and don't forget your ears.
Sitting around the camp fire at night, or enjoying a day of rain in the house, is a pleasure for everyone.

Let your mind wander where it will, let it all pass, take time to rest is the best healing.

chiropratic session

The farm is a place of healing. The surrounding nature will quiet your mind. As various guests come by, the farm transforms into a sharing center. Together, we take time to enjoy, together we heal.

Thanks to Romain and Cedric, 2 french doctors spending a week on the farm, the guests at the farm, got treated with a chiropractic session.

Banopa city

Banopa is a little traditional town. It has a big American hospital, giving job to many in town, as well as a big technical center.
Walk through the old town, and feel nepale life pass by. Sit and have a chai, speak with the locals, Banopa will take you back in time, in a quiet and simple way.

Makwanpur plantation

When you come to the Rainbow Sisters Farm, you can also get involved with some of the projects of the Universal Peace Foundation. UPF does plantings and various educational and cleaning programs around Nepal.

Here is Kiran from UPF planting some trees with the students.

September 21, UPF went planting in Hetauda, 5 hours south of Kathmandu. The plantation was done with the help of 20 students from hetauda schools. With the local villagers, 350 trees were planted in Makwanpur Ghadi.
THe plantation was a sucess, a beautiful day in the mountain, and nice roasted corn to finish the day with the sunset.

Villagers came and helped, happy to work with the students for the day.

The mountains shined in silver smiles of fuzzy plants:)

Chess week end

The farm is not only for relaxing or yoga. This week end, we went for a full power chess week end. Mayaan, Judit and Nicolas came with manue, from the Universal Peace Foundation.

Here is Manue and Judit enjoying the mountain, before cooking a tukpa for dinner.

Everybody at work, making tukpa, a local noodle soup. All of it, under the delighted eyes of Prakriti,Krishna's daughter, happy to have playmates for the week end.

Behind Krishna traditional house, you will find the perfect setting for your quiet and private stay at Rainbow Sisters farm.
There are 5 rooms made of bamboo and straw. Each room can accomodate 2 people. There is a round dining hall, as well as a large room for meetings and yoga sessions.

There is also a wood house, with windows all around, giving the room the best of the surrounding mountain light. The room can easily welcome 4 people and more. Equipped with mosquito net, you will enjoy sleeping and waking up in the mountain silence and bird songs.

The room is a confortable, yet simple place. Perfect for quiet time or to enjoy good times with your friends.

For cooking, you can eat with the family, or you can go to town, to pick up your vegetables and more. You can cook at the farm, we have gaz as well as a traditional kitchen with clay cover.

Farming

Rainbow Sisters Farm is the long time dream of Shri Krishna, a local farmer and forest keeper. His goal is to develop a plants and herbs research center.

An example farm in the village, Shri Krishna is setting up a bio diverse cultivation.
The farm work is still done using traditional method. Here, there are no mechanical tools, as everything is done by hand.
At the farm you can learn about the terrasse system, which is used all over Asia for rice growing. Replant ginger plants as Krishna explains the nature of the mother daughter ginger relationship. Pick lapsi fruits, a local fruit, and learn how to use it in various ways.

To help on the farm, you can be as creative as you would like, so come with your ideas and dreams, and share them with the community.

Yoga and meditation

Rainbow Sisters Farm is an ideal location for your yoga and meditation practice.
The fresh mountain air and the peaceful surrounding mountains will naturally put your mind and body in a relaxed state.

Let nature take away the stress of every day life, and reconnect with your quiet and unmoving center. The farm can host groups for work shops, with certified yoga and meditation teachers, as well as welcomes individual practice. You can also reserve the farm, to create your own work shops.

The private bamboo huts is ideal for quiet sittings.
Shri krishna, a long time meditator and yoga practitioner, will be happy to take you through yoga techniques and sit with you for sun rise or sun set meditation.

Only one hour away from busy and dusty Kathmandu, you will be in a typical little nepale town, Banepa.
To get to the farm, take the bus from Kathmandu at Ratna park bus station, direction Banepa.

Banepa sits quietly in the valley. The local American hospital gives many jobs in the area.

After a 40 mns ride you will be in Banepa. There, Shri krishna will pick you up, and guide you through a 20 mns walk up the hill to the farm.

Enjoy mountain walk with Shri Krishna showing you the local plants, and walk to local villages. You can see Nagarkhot, a popular destination for a nice sunset sitting right on the other side of the hill.

One of the advantages of the farm is how close it is to the capital. When you have any shopping to do, such as pick up a book or meet some friends for a week end night out, you can easily take a day trip to the city and come back for a sunset in the fresh mountains.

The Rainbow Sisters Farm asks donation, or 200 rupees a day, about 2 euros, which covers food and acomodation.
There are 2 rooms, with 4 beds, in simple and clean wood cabins in front of the house.
In the back, there are 5 bamboo and straw huts, 1 dining hall and one large room. As well as a full window wood house, big enough for 4 people to be very confortable.

Enjoy the home made lemon pickle with your thali, and the many types of badji cooked by Madame Krishna. Green beans and potatoes, pumpkin, and even a local mushroom when available, will be served to you while you enjoy the mountain scenery.
Or you can also cook your own food, if you prefer.

Welcome to Rainbow Sisters Farm.

The farm is located 20 minutes up from the city of Benapa. It can easily be reached with a 40 mns bus ride from Kathmandu. A 20 mns walk from the bus stop, and you will be in the garden of Mister Shri Krishna.

Shri Krishna lives on the farm with his daughter, Prakriti which means nature, and his wife. Their 2 sons sometimes come and help on the farm between their jobs.

Shri Krishna was a forest guard for many years. Take a walk with him in the jungle, and learn about the local herbs and plants, of which many are medicinal plants. He can also tell you about the animal life and the mountains.

After a good day around the farm, Krishna's wife will be hapy to serve you the local daal bhat.
Being an eco farm, the organic farm is equipped with bio-mass, producing gaz for the family and guest.

From the farm, on clear days you can see Mt Everest. You can enjoy a beautiful panorama view of the mountains, as the sun sets and rises on the surrounding hills.

With a little help from volunteers sharing ideas, the Jungle Hippie Farm wants to become a future plants research center and an example in bio diversity. Mister Shri Krishna is busy planting other crops than the traditional rice and corn fields. He is planting ginger, coriander, european spices, fruit trees and more.
The Jungle Hippie Farm is a model for the neighborood farms for crop diversity.

The cost of 200 rupees a day, includes food and acomodation.
